6th Grade JAZZ BAND!
After a successful inaugural year of 6th grade Jazz Band (2023-2024), the Lake City band department would like to offer 6th grade Jazz Band again!
"It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing!)"
6th grade jazz band covers a variety of topics, including:
-jazz-related rhythm and style
-listening and basic jazz improvisation
Jazz bands typically include a rhythm section, trumpets, trombones, and saxophones. The rhythm section usually consists of a piano, bass, and drums, but may also include vibraphone.
Here at Bluff View, ALL instruments are welcome and encouraged to participate in 6th grade jazz band!
Students will be encouraged to perform solos during rehearsals; we will all learn how to solo and improvise together!
Students will develop their instrumental music skills, but jazz band will also teach them...
- self-efficacy;
-accountability to attain a certain level quality in a specific amount of time;
- determination to play at a high level
- and of course it will be FUN!!!
Students will preform at the April 26th Spring Jazz concert at Lincoln High School at 7:30 and again in the Elementary Band concert May 29th at 7pm.
